Splenda

One US cup of Splenda weighs 24 grams (0.85 ounces). Going the other way, 100 grams is about 4.17 cups.

Also called Splenda granulated, Splenda No Calorie Sweetener, Splenda Zero Calorie Sweetener, granulated sucralose sweetener, sucralose sweetener, no calorie sweetener, sugar substitute.

Most sites print a number for a cup of Splenda and do not say where it came from. This page publishes 24 g (0.85 oz) and names all four sources it was checked against: Splenda No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated (producer label), King Arthur Baking Ingredient Weight Chart, Store-brand granulated sucralose (Great Value, Giant Our Brand) and USDA SR Legacy "Sweeteners, tabletop, sucralose, SPLENDA packets" (FDC 170257).

Where this number comes from

A cup of Splenda granulated sweetener weighs about 24 g (0.85 oz), roughly an eighth of what a cup of sugar weighs. Splenda's label gives half a gram per teaspoon, and King Arthur Baking's chart, at 25 g a cup, agrees within 4%.

Splenda Granulated is the bulk, spoonable form of Splenda, sold in bags and pouches rather than packets. It is mostly maltodextrin, a carbohydrate made from corn, carrying a small amount of sucralose, the intensely sweet part. It is made to be measured like sugar: a cup of Splenda Granulated is meant to sweeten like a cup of sugar. That is why it is so light. The sucralose does the sweetening, and the maltodextrin is there to give it a sugar-like volume.

The sources agree closely. Splenda's nutrition label gives 1 teaspoon as 0.5 g, and the 9.7 oz pouch at Target gives 2 teaspoons as 1.0 g, with 275 servings in the bag. Half a gram per teaspoon is 24.0 g per US cup. King Arthur Baking's ingredient weight chart lists "Sugar substitute (Splenda)" at 1 cup = 25 g, 4% higher and inside the 5% this site allows for sugars, so King Arthur's figure is right here. Store-brand granulated sucralose sweeteners from Great Value and Giant print the same half-gram teaspoon. USDA's only Splenda record is for packets, at 1 g each, with no cup or spoon weight.

The one caution is rounding. Labels give weights under 2 g to the nearest tenth of a gram, so "0.5 g" means anything from 0.45 to 0.55 g, about 22 to 26 g a cup. King Arthur's 25 g sits inside that span. This site publishes 24 g, the producer's own figure.

The physical check: 24 g in a 236.6 mL cup is 0.10 g/mL. Sugars and starches weigh about 1.5 to 1.6 g/mL as solids, and granulated sugar fills about half the cup with crystals, which is why a cup of sugar weighs 200 g. Splenda Granulated fills only about a fifteenth of the cup with solid; the rest is air inside and between its light, flaky granules. That is the point of the product, and it is also why the weight of a cup is small but consistent: the granules are free-flowing and do not pack down much under a spoon.

Practical guidance: use 24 g per cup, 12 g per half cup, 1.5 g per tablespoon and 0.5 g per teaspoon. When a recipe gives sugar in grams and you want to swap in Splenda Granulated, swap by volume, not by weight: 200 g of sugar is one cup, and one cup of Splenda Granulated is 24 g. Replacing 200 g of sugar with 200 g of Splenda would use more than eight cups. Bear in mind that the cup of Splenda replaces sugar's sweetness, not its weight: in cakes and cookies, sugar's bulk also holds moisture and helps browning, and a cup of a product that weighs 24 g cannot do the same.
