Most sites print a number for a cup of bran cereal and do not say where it came from. This page publishes 62 g (2.2 oz) and names all four sources it was checked against: USDA SR Legacy "Cereals ready-to-eat, KELLOGG, KELLOGG'S ALL-BRAN Original" (NDB 8001), Kellogg's All-Bran Original (producer label, US), King Arthur Baking Ingredient Weight Chart and Kellogg's All-Bran Original (producer label, Canada).

Where this number comes from
A cup of bran cereal weighs about 62 g (2.2 oz). USDA, Kellogg's label and King Arthur Baking's chart agree within 3.3% for All-Bran-style bran sticks, the kind baking recipes mean.
Bran cereal, in baking recipes, means the dense little sticks or buds of wheat bran sold as Kellogg's All-Bran Original, All-Bran Buds and store-brand bran cereals. They are the base of classic American bran muffins and refrigerator bran muffin batters, where the cereal soaks in milk or buttermilk before the flour goes in, and they go into quick breads, cookies and meatloaf. Bran flakes and raisin bran are lighter, flaked cereals and are not covered here, and neither is loose wheat bran, which this site lists separately.
USDA's record for All-Bran Original weighs the cereal's serving of half a cup at 31 g, 62 g a cup. Kellogg's current US label gives two thirds of a cup as 41 g, 61.5 g a cup. King Arthur Baking's chart lists bran cereal at 2 1/8 oz, 60 g, a cup. The three are within 3.3%, inside the 10% this site allows for cereals and other milled ingredients, so this site publishes USDA's 62 g. Confidence is medium: USDA's figure and the label both come from Kellogg's, so King Arthur's is the one independent measurement.
Kellogg's Canadian All-Bran is listed without a figure. Its label gives a 250 mL cup as 72 g, 68 g per US cup, but it is a different recipe, with less sugar and more calories per gram than the US cereal, so it is not the same product weighed differently.
The physical check: bran sticks are short, dense, porous extrusions of wheat bran, much heavier than flakes but full of small pores. At 62 g a cup they weigh more than twice what corn flakes weigh, 28 g, and about half of Grape-Nuts, 116 g, whose small hard nuggets pack almost like gravel. Loose wheat bran, a fine flaky powder, weighs about the same per cup as the sticks do, 58 to 64 g on this site.
Practical guidance: use 62 g per cup of bran cereal and about 3.9 g per tablespoon. An 18.6 oz box (527 g) holds about 8 1/2 cups. For bran muffins, weigh the cereal and soak it for the time the recipe says: dry pockets of unsoaked cereal make a muffin gritty. If you swap in bran flakes, go by weight, not by cups, since flakes are much lighter per cup.
